METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REPAIR OF ROLL MILL STAND Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of rolled products. SUBSTANCE: method involves removing rolls from stand; positioning insert into stand; disconnecting hydraulic pressing devices at the side adjacent to mill drive and at the side adjacent to pressing screws; removing insert, upper supporting roll and hydraulic pressing devices; replacing hydraulic pressing devices; providing sequential positioning of supporting and working rolls in stand. Method is characterized in that prior to positioning insert in stand, upper supporting roll is removed. Hydraulic pressing device, positioned at side adjacent to mill drive and extending lengthwise of axis of apparatus, is acted upon at the side adjacent to insert. Insert is moved together with hydraulic pressing device in the direction of removal till central axis of hydraulic pressing device coincides with longitudinal rolling axis. Hydraulic pressing device is lowered to the level below its pressing surface positioned at removal side and is withdrawn from stand. Apparatus has jack secured on insert and positioned at side adjacent to mill drive in axial alignment with central axis of hydraulic pressing device, and mounting platform positioned in parallel with rolling plane.
