COVER FOR PLACING AND STORING SPENT FUEL ASSEMBLIES FOR RBMK-1000 REACTOR Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC G21F5/00 

FIELD: physics, atomic power.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering and specifically to spacers holding articles, which in turn hold spent fuel elements of the RBMK-1000 reactor cut into bundles during transportation and storage thereof in containers. The cover is intended for placing and storing spent fuel assemblies and has high holding capacity. Routine maintenance and repair of the cover are simple. The cover has a lower diaphragm, end spring-loaded elements for ampoules mounted on the lower diaphragm, damping elements mounted on the outer side of the diaphragm, a centre tube having a tailpiece for clamping a load. On the lower diaphragm around the centre tube there is a removable unit of channels, which includes four mated tubes with guide plates for a case holder, connected to each other by inserts, and on the outside with diaphragms having channels in which tubes for the ampoules are mounted. The lower diaphragm is fitted with devices for tightening each case holder and detachable supports are mounted on the outer side of the lower diaphragm.

EFFECT: providing optimum nuclear-safe arrangement of 150 ampoules with fuel assemblies in the cover, the larger part of the fuel assemblies of which must be in the case holders, each 30 ampoules with the fuel assemblies.
