METHOD TO HANDLE SPEND NUCLEAR FUEL OF HIGH-POWER CHANNEL TYPE REACTOR RBMK-1000 AND DEVICES FOR ITS REALISATION Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC G21C19/06 

FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to handling spent nuclear fuel, namely, to loading, transportation, unloading and arrangement of ampoules with bundles of fuel elements (FEB) of the reactor RBMK-1000 in dry storage cases. The method includes placement of fuel element bundles in ampoules at the NPP and their loading into a jacket, transportation of a jacket with ampoules in a protective container to the dry storage, transfer of ampoules from the jacket into cases, sealing of cases by means of welding of the case cover to its body, filling of cases with a nitrogen-helium mixture via a valve, sealing of a valve, monitoring of tightness of welded seams and placement of cases in seats of the dry storage. When forwarding to the NPP, lattices are withdrawn from bodies of cases and installed into cells (seats) of the jacket, at the NPP some ampoules with FEB are loaded into lattices of cases arranged in seats of the jacket, and some ampoules - into cells of the jacket arranged between seats. In the dry storage, using a loader crane, lattices with FEB ampoules are withdrawn from the jacket in turns and installed into bodies of cases, and ampoules from the jacket cells are transferred to the case body by the available method using an electromechanical loader crane with load-carrying capacity of 500 kg.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of FEB transportation and storage.
