SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydroacoustics and specifically to designing a directional waveguide converter, capable of operating in a frequency band for hydroacoustic means for various purposes, including towed means, as antenna systems for: sonar, communication, navigation, profiling, acoustic tomography, illumination of an underwater environment etc. The hydroacoustic directional waveguide converter comprises a gas-filled pressure-resistant housing insulated from the external environment, which holds an active element in the form of a reinforced rod-shaped piezoelectric bundle which is rigidly mated with an elastic cylindrical waveguide through a fastening-sealing end piece in the form of a cup, which provides flexible connection with the pressure-resistant housing. The waveguide converter is made of a composite material, e.g. ebonite and brass, and is a periodic thin-layer structure consisting of identical, alternating links of equal thickness; wherein the orientation of the waveguide links made of the composite material is perpendicular to the axis of the waveguide, and the waveguide is reinforced with thin elastic rods made of, for example, titanium.

EFFECT: improved process characteristics of the hydroacoustic converter, particularly narrower beam patterns, high sensitivity, radiation power, higher strength of the structure of the converter and reliability thereof, along with the reduced weight and size of the waveguide.
