FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves supply of steel melt to a rotating casting conveyor set horizontally, its hardening into a flat blank 6-20 mm thick, hot rolling after complete hardening of the strip. The steel melt which is still liquid and/or has just started to harden is affected by a gas or plasma jet consisting of metal and/or non-metal elements influencing the properties of the hot-rolled strip. Concentration of the elements introduced into the melt by the gas or plasma jet and diffusing in it is regulated along the thickness and width of the strip due to the change of affecting kinetic energy of the gas or plasma jet, partial pressure of gas and/or applied temperature. The material properties are additionally regulated along the strip length.
EFFECT: task-oriented setting of required surface properties and properties of cast strip core.
