FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy. The unit is composed of a mould, into which a thin slab with narrow sides and a thickness of between 40 and 55 mm is poured at a speed of 4 to 16 m/min. The slab, which has a core where the steel is still in a liquid state, passes through the vertical device of pre-rolling where the slab thickness is reduced from 15 to 37 mm. Due to the formation of a free curve, the slab takes a horizontal position, in which it is subjected to first scale removal, the first rolling, heating in the inductor, the second scale removal and a series of thickness reductions in the rolling mill. The slab temperature is maintained along the mill above the Ar3 recrystallisation point. Then, along the direction of motion in the rolling mill a roller conveyor with cooling showers is provided, flying shears for cutting the resulting strip into segments, drawing rolls and at least two spinning wheels for formation of hot rolled strip coils. Finished hot-rolled strip has a thickness of 0.8 to 12 mm.
EFFECT: thin strip cast at a high-speed and having a fine grain structure, high quality and absence of defects.
