FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design of apparatus for irradiating fluid media and can be used in apparatus intended for sterilisation of fluids, activation of chemical reactions in fluid solutions, nuclear conversion of fluid radioactive wastes used particularly in medicine, food, chemical and atomic power industries. The chamber for irradiating fluid media comprises a chamber with fluid medium inlet and outlet pipes, wherein the pipes are vertically spaced apart from each other; the chamber is in the form of two coaxial pipes with a variable diameter, the cavity between which is linked to a differential pressure sensor; the inner pipe forms a cavity which is linked to the space outside the chamber; in at least one of the sections of the chamber the diameter of the outer pipe of the chamber Dc satisfies the relationship Dc<Dip+2d, where Dip is the diameter of the inner pipe in a given section, d is the radiation distance in the irradiated liquid; the inlet pipe of the chamber is located on the axis of the chamber.
