FIELD: physics, atomic power.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design of apparatus for irradiating fluid media and can be used in apparatus intended for sterilisation of fluids, activation of chemical reactions in fluid solutions, nuclear conversion of fluid radioactive wastes used particularly in medicine, food, chemical and atomic power industries. The chamber for irradiating fluid media comprises a cylindrical chamber with fluid medium inlet and outlet pipes, wherein the pipes are vertically spaced apart; the chamber is in the form of two coaxial cylindrical pipes, the volume between which is divided into identical sections by radial partition walls and is linked to a differential pressure sensor; the inner pipe is linked to the space outside the chamber; the diameter of the outer pipe of the chamber Dc satisfies the relationship Dc<Dip+2d, where Dip is the diameter of the inner pipe, d is the radiation distance in the irradiated liquid medium; the inlet pipe of the chamber is located on the axis of the chamber and has fluid medium mixer.

EFFECT: controlling the radiation dose absorbed by the fluid medium owing to high spatial uniformity of the flow of the fluid medium at the inlet of the apparatus, dividing the pipe into sections, measuring radiation absorbed by the fluid medium in different parts of the cross-section of the flow thereof, controlling the time of irradiating the fluid medium by determining the flow rate thereof through the apparatus.
