SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment for mechanical appliances to perform search-and rescue, underwater engineering and ship raising operations. Method to ignite solid chemically active fuel in liquid medium involves usage of a heating element. The heating element is produced in the form of an incandescent tube with the length lmp. by tight winding of wire having high ohmic resistance, a soild chemically active fuel unit is provided with a horizontal channel open on two sides with the length Lk and the diameter dk equal to the external diameter of the incandescent tube, the said tube is closely installed in the said channel.

EFFECT: invention provides for improved reliability of ignition of solid chemically active fuel placed in liquid medium.
