FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: general anaesthesia is followed by an incision in the oral cavity. A median line is marked within the mandibular symphysis. The chin osteotomy is performed. The osteotomy fragment is moved into a planned position that is followed by its bone fixation by mini-plates with transmitted mini-screws or by mini-screws only. The chin muscle and the mucous membrane are sutured together with surgical sutures. Before suturing, the chin muscle is first fixed to the chin: to the osteotomy lower fragment - movable forward or to the upper fragment - with moving the osteotomy lower fragment backward. For the purpose of the above fixation, a long-absorption surgical mono-suture is delivered through inclined through cortical holes formed in the respective fragment. After the chin muscle is fixed to the bone, it is sutured tensionless throughout with the resorbable suture material. The submucosa and mucosa are sutured together.
EFFECT: by providing the correct relation of the genial region, the method enables the predicted change of the chin contour increasing the effectiveness of the surgical operation of genioplasty.
