FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in converters of input current or input voltage. An operation method involves a converter circuit that includes n input phase terminals (U1, V1, W1) and p output phase terminals (U2, V2, W2), where n≥2 and p≥2, (n-p) bipolar switching cells (2) for switching at least of one positive and at least one negative voltage between poles. Each output phase terminal (U2, V2, W2) is connected in series to each input phase terminal (U1, V1, W1) through switching cell (2) respectively. Each switching cell (2) includes controlled bidirectional power semiconductor switches with controlled one-sided direction of current passage and a capacitive energy storage; power semiconductor switches of switching cells (2) are controlled by means of control signal (S1). To each series connection there connected is at least one inductance coil (6). Switching cell (2) together with inductance coil (6) forms phase module (1). For each phase module (1) there shaped is control signal (S1) based on reference signal (Vref.U1) with regard to voltage (U1) through phase module (1) and voltage signal (VL) on inductance coil (6). Voltage signal (VL) on inductance coil (6) is shaped based on an intermediate set value (ΔiU1) of current (iU1) through phase module (1).
EFFECT: reduction of undesired circulating currents.
