FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: created converter (10) containing n-phase transformer (20) and conversion circuit (12) from n-th number of MMC-modules (30), wherein number n is at least three. MMC-modules (30) are connected in series. Converter (10) includes isolating condensers (16) for electric power supply to transformer (20) and/or to power takeoff from it. Each winding (21) of first side (21s) of the transformer (20) forms with one of isolating condensers (16) series circuit (17), wherein each of serial circuits (17) is connected in parallel to one of MMC-modules (30). Besides, there are methods (100, 200) of operation to convert DC voltage (UDC), at least into three-phase AC voltage (U22, U'22, U"22) and to convert, at least, three-phase alternating voltage (U22, U'22, U"22) to direct voltage (UDC).
EFFECT: disclosed is converter for power transmission between system of DC voltage and at least n-phase AC system.
