METHOD OF ION TRANSPORT FROM POLAR LIQUID INTO VACUUM AND DEVICE FOR REALISING THEREOF Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC H01J49/10 G01N21/71

Abstract RU 2537961 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: analysed solution is placed into channels of dielectric membrane, where from ions are extracted into vacuum by pulses of strong electric field. Dispersion of solution itself does not occur. To realise said method claimed is device, in which possibility of fast formation of electric fields, stimulating effective extraction of ions from solution, present in membrane channels, is provided due to construction of electrodes. Method is characterized by the following essential features: 1) possibility of direct control of electric field, which extracts ions; 2) absence of transition processes when device is started, change of voltages applied to its electrodes, or sample substitution; 3) possibility of increasing intensity of ion release from solution due to application of pulse electric fields with essentially larger intensity; 4) lower consumption of analysed ions, contained in solution, due to coordination of flow of extracted ions with periodicity of their separation and registration in time-of-flight devices; 5) considerable increase of sensitivity in registration of ionic composition of solutions due to more effective application of all membrane channels and reduction of background noises; 6) possibility of direct introduction of ions from solution into time-of-flight chamber of analyser without additional modulation of ion flow.

EFFECT: provision of stable and controlled ion transport from polar solution into vacuum under controlled conditions for a long time.
