FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to veterinary medicine, particularly to a method for assessing the stress sensitivity in newborn calves. A method involves testing the sensitivity of newborns calves to a stress factor and analysing the animal's physiological parameters. The animal is exposed to a sound in the form of a sound signal at a sound pressure of 90-100 dB. A pulse rate and a respiratory rate before and after the sound exposure are measured, while the stress sensitivity is assessed in standard units calculated by formula standard units=(P2·R2):(P1·R1), wherein P1 is a pulse rate before the sound exposure, P2 is a pulse rate after the sound exposure, R1 is a respiratory rate before the sound exposure before the sound exposure, R2 is a respiratory rate after the sound exposure. The animals having the standard units below the group arithmetic mean, are considered to have the low stress sensitivity, while the animals with the standard units above the group arithmetic mean are stated as having the high stress sensitivity.
EFFECT: method enables reducing a time of result processing and improving accuracy.
