FIELD: experimental medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the individual stress resistance of small laboratory animals. The animal is placed in the “open field” test setup and its spontaneous motor activity is assessed in terms of such indicators as the number of horizontal movements and grooming acts. Then, a small laboratory animal is exposed to acoustic radiation with a frequency of 6–800 Hz and a sound pressure level of 100–110 dB during a time interval equal to the interval for assessing spontaneous motor activity, during which its induced motor activity is assessed by the number of horizontal movements and acts of grooming. An animal with increased indices of motor activity is assessed as stress-resistant, an animal with decreased indices of motor activity is assessed as not resistant to stress, and an animal with unchanged motor activity is assessed as initially responsive to stress.

EFFECT: method allows to determine the stress resistance of small laboratory animals by comparing the quantitative indicators of their spontaneous motor activity after being placed in the “open field” test installation with the quantitative indicators of motor activity caused by the action of a stressful acoustic factor.
