SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication networks. The method of controlling access to a wireless channel includes: providing a MAC layer of a distributed DCF mode and a centralised PCF mode for accessing an allocated medium; transmitting all information using frames consisting of controlled and competitive access intervals; realising, on the controlled access mode interval, PCF access which is used when transmitting delay-sensitive information; performing, by a base station, a polling procedure during which stations having applications to transmit delay-sensitive information are determined, and successively providing said stations with the necessary time resource in the form of a special frame, wherein during the polling procedure, the base station also determines stations having applications to transmit delay-insensitive information, and provides some of said stations with access to a wireless channel in PCF mode, and the other stations transmit the delay-insensitive information in DCF mode.

EFFECT: faster transmission of user information in a wireless network.
