FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises contacting the feed containing at least one aromatic compound capable of alkylated and the alkylating agent, with the first alkylation catalyst composition under conditions of alkylation. Alkylation is carried out at a temperature of 90-230°C. The molar ratio of aromatic compound to alkylating agent is 1-3. First alkylating catalyst composition contains less than 5 wt % of Zeolite UZM-8 and the binder. The overall selectivity of the alkylation is greater than 99.0%. The conversion of the alkylating agent is more than 90%. The active area of the catalyst layer containing the first alkylation catalyst is not more than 50% of the total length of the catalyst bed.

EFFECT: preserving stable activity and high selectivity for alkylation product.
