FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: scope of application: for defects detection. The essence of invention consists in the following: external scanning defect detector contains segmented steel frame, supporting wheels, running wheels, ground drive, diesel electric generator, magnetic search system of longitudinal magnetisation, magnetic search system of transverse magnetisation, wheel odometer, detector data collection device, airborne electronics, portable computer, radio channel of communications between airborne electronics and portable computer. At that it is provided with the first and the second groups of propulsion motors, group of eddy-current transducers of non-destructive testing, unit of change of pipe wall magnetisation intensity, basket on pendulum suspension in corresponding link of segmented frame, rotary electrical contact system, the first and the second elastic couplings, and other structural elements.

EFFECT: simplifying structure in moving part of diagnostic device, decreasing device weight, providing built-in-programmed separation of external defects signals from internal defects signals in interactive operation mode and providing optimum magnetisation of inspected pipe wall.
