FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in radio receivers. The direct down conversion receiver comprises a radio-frequency (RF) input unit configured for amplification, down conversion with a substantially low gain and digitisation of a received signal to provide samples, a direct current offset suppressing device configured to correct direct current offset in the samples. The output of the direct current offset suppressing device is connected to a digital variable gain amplifier (DVGA) configured to amplify samples with correction of direct current offset with a first gain to provide output data having the required signal amplitude. The receiver also includes an automatic gain control (AGC) circuit configured to provide a first gain for the DVGA, based in part on the output data.
EFFECT: providing the required gain range for covering the full dynamic range of a received signal.
