FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: in the method involving separating ions of various types by superposition of alternating random cyclic irregularly polarised and unidirectional electrical fields in a gas flow limited by extended electrodes, cyclic variation of the unidirectional electrical field within the range of intensity values providing separated ion transportation by the gas flow to detect, detecting a separated ion spectrum in the form of ion peak collection, including peaks of the substances to be controlled; according to the invention, the first version implies starting the following variation cycle after a delay time interval, once the previous variation cycle of the unidirectional electrical field. According to the second version, depending on a variation speed of the unidirectional electrical field, the initial intensity of this field is specified so that at the above variation speed by the moment of detection, the time adequate for remove all types of ions caught by the gas flow during the previous variation cycle of unidirectional electrical field in the spectrum of the first peak of the substance to be controlled.

EFFECT: solving the problems of high-speed cyclic ion separation and detection in the gas.
