FIELD: transport, package.

SUBSTANCE: set of inventions includes device (10, 10') for sealing up the strip made of heat sealing plastic material when the strip is superimposed on multilayer canvas (3) of food packing material and method for food packing. The device pushes the strip (7) along specified trajectory (P) and includes at least one primary layer to ensure rigidity and strength, and one or more heat sealing plastic layers. Sealing strip (7) has the first longitudinal portion (42) superimposed on longitudinal edge (8) of canvas (3) and the second longitudinal portion (43) extending alongside of longitudinal edge (8). The device (10, 10') includes: light source (45, 45') intended for transversal portion of canvas (3) irradiation when it moves along trajectory (P), and sensor (46, 46') determining, when in use, value of parameter (I, I'). The latter characterises different behaviour of materials comprising canvas (3) and sealing strip (7) when light hits them. The sensor generates output signal (W) relating to the width of the second portion (43) of sealing strip (7) in direction (X) being perpendicular to canvas (3) movement direction and parallel to the canvas (3). Method for pressure-tight food packages manufacturing of multilayer canvas (3) of packing material includes operation of superimposing a strip (7) of heat sealing plastic onto canvas (3) and operation of sealing strip (7) position determination.

EFFECT: providing continuous and accurate sealing strip position control when it is superimposed onto packing material canvas without disturbing packing machine operation.
