FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to initiating process of ethylene epoxidation. Claimed method includes initiation of epoxidation reaction by interaction of composition of gaseous initial ethylene-containing materials and oxygen in presence of epoxidation catalyst at temperature from approximately 180°C to approximately 210°C; addition of approximately 0.05 ppm to approximately 2 ppm of moderator to composition of gaseous initial materials; increase of first temperature to second temperature, equal from approximately 240°C to approximately 250°C, for a period of time, constituting from approximately 12 hours to approximately 60 hours, and supporting second temperature for a period of time from approximately 50 hours to approximately 150 hours.
EFFECT: improvement of procedure of activation of epoxidation catalyst.
