FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: fuel element comprises fuel pellets 1, enclosed in a tubular shell 2 and supported at two ends by fixing and compensating springs. The fuel pellets 1 in the tubular shell 2 are sealed at two sides by plugs. The tubular shell has microchannels 3, having coolant inlets 4 and outlets 5, wherein on the axis of the outlet of the microchannel 3 there is a slanting partition wall 6, which repels the steam release 7 from the microchannel 3. The inlet of the microchannel 3 has a section which is perpendicular to the integral velocity vector of the coolant stream 8.
EFFECT: improved heat emission from the surface of fuel elements with minimal increase in hydraulic resistance, which is characteristic for the smooth surface of fuel elements.
