SUBSTANCE: method comprises a control system, an engine cylinder with inlet valves, a bypass valve and two pistons, each of which has working and compressor cavities, and the external combustion chamber, meanwhile for providing of optimum level of expansion of combustion products in working cavities of pistons of the cylinder of the single-cycle engine with the external combustion chamber the control system opens the inlet valve of the cylinder, and combustion products from the external combustion chamber flow to the working cavity of one of cylinder pistons, at the same time the control system monitors the current values of speed of the cylinder pistons, of pressure of combustion products in the external combustion chamber, pressure of combustion products in the working cavity of the cylinder piston and pressure of the air compressed in its compressor cavity, and after the start of motion of pistons at the moment of the beginning of expansion of products of combustion, pre-set by the control system, the control system closes the inlet valve of the cylinder, after that the process of expansion of combustion products starts in the working cavity of the cylinder piston, then at the moment corresponding to the maximum expansion of combustion products in the working cavity of the cylinder piston to the time of arrival of both cylinder pistons to the opposite extreme point of movement, the control system opens bypass valve of the cylinder, as a result the air compressed in the compressor cavity of the cylinder piston through the bypass valve flows into the compressor cavity of another piston of the cylinder, meanwhile the energy spent for air compression at this phase of a cycle also together with air is carried over there, giving an additional impulse of energy to both pistons of the cylinder.
EFFECT: invention provides reversal of rotation of the crank-shaft of a single-cycle engine with external combustion chamber.
