FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to compressor industry and is concerned with centrifugal compressor design. A centrifugal compressor comprises the following units set in the casing: an impeller, a diffuser, an annular cavity between the membrane wall and the outer surface of a covering disk and a collecting chamber. The novelty consists in the fact that the diffuser output is communicated with the annular cavity in the zone where smaller diameter of additional impeller blades is located by means of a C-shaped annular channel; the said channel is set in the collecting chamber and port-channels are made evenly and circumferentially in its middle part, they serve to communicate the cavities of the collecting chamber, an additional diffuser is provided between the membrane and the diffuser, it is communicated with the annular cavity on the input side and with the collecting chamber on the output side, the covering disk of the impeller interacts with sealing elements mounted on the side of the input to the impeller and on its output side respectively on the outer wall of the C-shaped channel and on the wall being common for both diffusers.
EFFECT: in presence of one impeller the proposed design of a centrifugal compressor provides for gas compression in two stages actually, thus allowing for significant increase of pressure.
