FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydroacoustic measurements and may be used for measurement of vertical distribution of acoustic speed in natural water reservoirs. Substance: probing is carried out with an acoustic pulse signal of a single relatively strong natural acoustic dissipator within a water volume, limited by directional characteristics of acoustic emitter-receiver and two receivers, axes of directional characteristics of which cross at one horizon with the axis of the directional characteristic of the acoustic emitter-receiver. Serially they change angles of inclination of directional characteristics of the first and second acoustic receivers, which are located at fixed distances from the emitter-receiver at one horizon with it. Time of arrival of received signals is measured, the values of acoustic speed in the water reservoir at specified horizons are determined by time value, value of acoustic speed at the horizon of acoustic source and receives, the available distance between them. They emit either a monochromatic pulse acoustic signal of low duration or a complex pulse acoustic signal with hyperbolic frequency modulation, using which time of arrival of received signals is determined using time position of maxima of mutually correlation functions of emitted and received signals.
EFFECT: increased accuracy and depth of measurement of acoustic speed at specified horizons in natural water reservoirs by remote acoustic method on the run of an equipment carrier.
