SUBSTANCE: method involves the broadband pulse radiation, the receiving of the reflected signals at the transceiver antenna with a narrow directional characteristic, the measuring of the sound velocity on the horizon of the transceiver antenna, the measuring of the phase moveout time distribution of the received signal. Then, using the sound velocity on the horizon of the transceiver antenna, the sound velocity time distribution is reduced sequentially at the time points spaced apart by not more than half the width of the autocorrelation function of the emitted signal, and the measured sound velocity time distribution in water determines the depth distribution of the sound velocity.
EFFECT: simplification of the method, reduction of the device power consumption.
