FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method of measuring distribution of sound speed in liquid mediums consists in emitting acoustic signals by acoustic vibration source located on a given medium horizon and alternately receiving acoustic signals reflected from acoustic scatters in the volumes of the liquid medium which are limited by the intersection of the source directivity characteristic with a fan of the directional characteristics of the receivers by the acoustic receivers. Then, the sound velocity values are measured at the source and receiver horizon, the slope angles of the directivity characteristics of the receivers are set and the corresponding signal propagation times from the source to the scattering volumes of the medium and further to the receivers are measured. The occurrence horizons of the scattering volumes of the medium are determined by means of a calculation and the values of Ci sound velocity are calculared at these horizons. In addition, the sum of the projections of the flow velocity Vi on the directivity characteristics of the receivers are determined using the Doppler frequency shift derived from the source and receiver signals for calculation, and the corrected values of Cr sound velocity on the occurrence horizons of scattering volumes of the medium are calculated by the formula Cr= Ci±Vi.
