SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in forming phase-contrast images. Forming phase-contrast images of an object includes the following steps: forming an absorption-based image of an object located between an X-ray source (S) and a detector (D), indicating a region of interest (ROI) in the absorption-based image, wherein the ROI has a width and a position, moving a grid system between the source and the detector while covering the ROI, adapting the field of view of the X-rays to the ROI, generating signals using the detector for detecting X-rays, wherein part of the object (O) is located together with the grid system within the X-rays between the X-ray source and the detector, obtaining transmitted data from different projection angles, performing local processing of signals from the detector and forming an image based on the processed signals.
EFFECT: enabling scanning of a controlled object with less intensity compared to traditional scanning based on absorption.
