FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the prediction of hearing restoration in the patients with acute sensorineural hearing loss (ASNHL). Substance of the method: excretion of 6-sulphatoximelatonine (6-SOMT), principal metabolite of melatonin is measured in nocturnal urine. If the 6-SOMT excretion in the 20-39-year-old patients is more than 1,254 ng/hour, and in the 40-59-year-old patients, it is more than 650.3 ng/hour, the hearing restoration is predicted in the patients suffering degree I-II SNHL to restore to normal thresholds, and in the patients suffering degree III SNHL, the hearing improvement is considered to restore by 25-40 dB. Using the invention provides higher sensitivity and accuracy of the method for the prediction of the hearing restoration in the patients with ASNHL, as well as a non-invasiveness of the assay.
EFFECT: as compared to the prototype method, the invention increases sensitivity of the method and accuracy.
