FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and installation for the production of direct reduced iron by means of direct contact of iron oxides with a flow of recalculating and regenerable hot reducing gases, containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide. A spent reducing gas, containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane and water, is purified and cooled, processed in an apparatus for the selective removal of carbon dioxide, which results in the production of a processed reducing gas, containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide and methane. Its first part after heating is directed to recirculation into a reduction reactor, and the second part is processed in an apparatus for physical separation of gas with obtaining the first gas flow, which has the higher content of hydrogen, and the second gas flow, which has the higher content of carbon monoxide and methane. The first gas flow is used as fuel in a heater of the reducing gas, and the second gas flow is directed for recirculation into the reduction reactor.
EFFECT: invention provides the reduction of an uncontrollable emission of carbon dioxide into atmosphere.
