FIELD: physics, acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to acoustics, particularly to echo cancellation systems. A multichannel acoustic echo canceller comprises a microphone which receives a signal having components from at least two sound sources to be cancelled. An echo cancellation circuit performs echo cancellation based on channel estimates for channels of each of the sound sources. A estimation circuit generates each of the channel estimates in the form of a combination of a previous channel estimate and a channel estimate update. The estimation circuit applies relative weight to the channel estimate update relative to the previous channel estimate. A weight coefficient processor changes the relative weight in response to a time value. The device also includes a non-stationary filter, and a weight computation circuit is configured to generate a scaling factor for a nominal weight value and determine relative weight in response to the scaling factor for the nominal weight, wherein the scaling factor depends on time duration.
EFFECT: improved echo cancellation.
