FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of hardening covering compositions, containing radically polimerisable compound and organoborane amine complex, and which are used in formation of hardened covering, for instance, in automobile decorating. Said covering composition contains radically polymerisable compound and organoborane amine complex. Said complex contains organoborane initiator, amine blocking agent and water. Hardening of covering composition is realised in several stages. Organoborane amine complex, radically polymerisable compound and water are combined. Covering composition is formed. Carbon dioxide is introduced into covering composition or into composition, including at least one of organoborane amine complex, radically polymerisable compound and water, before formation of covering composition. Carbonic acid is formed in situ in covering composition by reaction of water and carbon dioxide. Organoborane amine complex is subjected to decomplexation under impact of carbonic acid with separation in this way of organoborane initiator and amine blocking agent. Radically polymerisable compound is polymerised with application of organoborane initiator in presence of oxygen.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to improve rate and efficiency of covering hardening in absence of external heating, UV irradiation, etc.
