FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: atmosphere rich in a deuterating agent is generated by evaporating a drop of the deuterating agent on a metal substrate heated by contacting a heated inlet cone of a mass spectrometer, in an ion source. A solvent for the analysed sample is a deuterium-free solvent, or a deuterated solvent.

EFFECT: possibility to increase several times a depth of deuteron-hydrogen exchange of movable hydrogen atoms by deuterium with using the standard ion source of the mass spectrometer at atmospheric pressure.
