SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Namely, to a method of stabilizing an aqueous preparation against the growth of microorganisms, to an aqueous preparation stabilized against the growth of microorganisms, as well as to the use of a source of at least one metal oxide and/or its hydrated form to reduce the amount of an antimicrobial agent against at least one strain of bacteria, and/or at least one strain of yeast, and/or at least one strain of mold fungi in an aqueous preparation, to the use of a composition containing at least one antimicrobial agent and a source of at least one metal oxide and/or its hydrated form, as an antimicrobial composition in an aqueous preparation, to the use of magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, semi-burnt dolomite, burnt dolomite, beryllium oxide, beryllium hydroxide, strontium oxide, strontium hydroxide, barium oxide, barium hydroxide and their mixtures to increase the pH of an aqueous preparation to a pH of more than 8 and to the use of an aqueous preparation stabilized against the growth of microorganisms in paper, plastic, polymer compositions, paint, coatings, concrete and/or agriculture.

EFFECT: invention provides sufficient antimicrobial activity of aqueous preparations with reduced concentration.
