FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detecting objects in space, methods and devices for laser location and can be used in target detection and recognition systems, systems for preventing collision of vehicles, in navigation devices and in security alarm systems. The method is based on illuminating a sector in space with probing pulsed laser radiation at least once during the observation period; suppressing back-scattering interference and detecting radiation reflected from the surface of the object in a receiving channel. The optical signal is converted to an electrical signal and compared with a threshold level. The moment the threshold level is crossed from the bottom upwards with a positive derivative, an object is located in the illuminated sector of space. The probing pulse is generated only at the moment the signal crosses the threshold level from the top downwards with a negative derivative.
EFFECT: lower required radiation energy of a source and size and weight characteristics of the device.
