FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering, particularly to means of providing safe storage of spent fuel assemblies of a VVER-1000 reactor in storage pools, and is intended for cooling jackets with spent fuel assemblies and building structures in case of beyond design basis accident caused by drying of storage pools. Jackets with spent fuel assemblies are flooded by sprayed water fed from an emergency water supply reservoir under gravity, and compressed air is additionally fed into sprinklers. The flooding systems are fitted along the walls with pipes for feeding water and compressed air, placed between rows of jackets with spent fuel assemblies. The sprinklers connected to said pipes are in the form of acoustic nozzles for fine sprinkling of water and are placed at a distance shorter than the operating range thereof. The source of compressed air used is a portable compressor.
EFFECT: obtaining water films on cooled surfaces, uniform heat removal from spent fuel assemblies.
