FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of disposing and storing spent nuclear fuel and can be used in storages of radioactive substances. The disclosed method comprises disposing radioactive substances (1) in a liquid-filled container (3), wherein the inner cavity of the container (2), which is bounded at the top by a cover (7), is linked to a liquid medium (10) surrounding container by a compensation channel (5) and a gas outlet pipe (8). The volume of the compensation channel is made greater than the volume of the liquid in the container via thermal expansion, and the length of the compensation channel with an outlet opening (6) is selected based on the condition that the time at which radioactive substances dissolved in the liquid diffuse out through the compensation channel is greater than the storage time. The gas outlet pipe has a shape which provides a gas seal (9) therein when immersed in the liquid medium. The compensation channel and the gas outlet pipe are hermetically linked to the inner cavity of the container holding the liquid (4).
EFFECT: preventing radioactive liquid from falling out of the container into the surrounding liquid medium of a pond, removing gases formed in the container during radiolysis and filling the container with liquid without involving personnel and setting up special systems.
