FIELD: packaging industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device and method of cleaning containers that are used to store beverages. The device for cleaning and refilling the self-cooling container of barrel type for beverages, having a heat exchange unit containing compressed carbon, comprises a platform for receiving a container with an opening oriented in a downward direction; a pipeline located for connection with the opening; the sources of cleaning and sanitizing materials, connected through the normally closed valves to the said pipeline; the means for sequential control of opening and closing the said valves to insert into the container and release from it of the cleaning and sanitising materials; a source of cooled fluid; a pump for providing circulation of cooled fluid through the said valves, a pipeline, a container, and back to the pump; the means for inserting into the heat exchange unit of carbon dioxide under pressure, subject to adsorption by compressed carbon located in the unit while simultaneous circulation of the said cooled fluid; and the means of holding the container on the said platform during cleaning and refilling.
EFFECT: invention enables to provide cleaning and refilling of the heat exchange unit of the containers as the continuation of the cleaning cycle with the corresponding gaseous medium which should be adsorbed by compressed carbon located within the heat exchanger unit.
