FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for identifying a metal substrate present in an environment with an extremely high metal content, that may also be dusty. According to the invention, the device includes a passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) label, wherein the label carrier is configured to be attached to the metal substrate and to position the label at a certain distance therefrom, wherein the RFID reader has an antenna which includes, as an induction loop, two sections of a coaxial cable having a substantially identical length, and each including a metal core and a metal pleat surrounding the core, wherein each includes a metal core and a metal pleat surrounding the core, the two sections being linked together, on the one hand, at one end thereof by connecting the core of one section to the pleat of the other section and vice versa and, on the other hand, at the other end thereof by connecting only the pleats together, the cores thereof being separated at said other end.

EFFECT: high reliability of operation and reduced size of the device for radio-frequency identification of a metal substrate in a dusty environment with high metal content.
