FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used in aircraft engine building. The method of improving erosion resistance of compressor blades of a gas-turbine engine made of titanium alloys includes ion-beam cleaning of a surface followed by deposition of an ion-plasma multilayer coating in the form of a given number of pairs of layers consisting a layer of titanium with a metal and a layer of compounds of titanium with a metal and nitrogen. The surface undergoes electrolytic-plasma polishing before ion-beam cleaning. The metal used in the layers of titanium with a metal and layers of compounds of titanium with a metal and nitrogen is vanadium. The layer of titanium with vanadium is deposited with a thickness of 0.2-0.3 mcm, and the layer of compounds of titanium with vanadium and nitrogen has a thickness of 1.1-2.2 mcm, with total thickness of the multilayer coating of 5.0-7.0 mcm. The layers of compounds of titanium with vanadium are deposited in argon ion-assisted mode and layers of compounds of titanium with vanadium and nitrogen are deposited in nitrogen ion-assisted mode.
EFFECT: effective protection of blades made of titanium alloys from erosion while simultaneously increasing endurance limit and cyclic life.
