FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves transpupillary pattern-mode laser coagulation of retina at emission wave length 577 nm. Threshold stages of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) with extra-retinal proliferation expanding over 5 successive, circumferentially adjoining hour meridian require applying 300 and more laser coagulates on the avascular retina from an axle to the periphery within the pathological process. If observing the post-threshold stages of ROP accompanied by local retinal detachemtn on the periphery of 2-3 hour meridians, 300 or more coagulates in the form of matrix patterns 5×5 are applied on the avascular sites. Then, the coagulates in the form of matrix patterns 3×3 are applied on the avascularised site of the retina at 1-1.5 diameters of optic disk from the detachment point.

EFFECT: method provides stabilising the pathological process and regression of the disease, preventing injuries of the photoreceptor layers of the retina, reducing the length of a procedure, and avoiding progression and development of the severe forms of the disease.
