SUBSTANCE: invention relates to data transmission and can be used in a data network receiver to control the decision threshold. A method for symbol-based decision threshold control in a data network receiver includes determining violation of correspondence of received bits before and after error correction to determine if the error component of the received signal contains more ones or more zeros. If a transmitter scrambles a signal before transmitting the signal, the receiver will also scramble the signal after error correction and before counting the number of zeros or ones. Any violation of correspondence between the number of transmitted and received ones or zeros is used as feedback for controlling threshold values used by detectors for accurate control of the process of interpretation of received signals by the receiver.
EFFECT: high accuracy of receiving symbols transmitted by a transmitter.
