SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. Described is a method of transmitting a control message via an uplink for a wireless communication system. An uplink control message can be encoded in accordance with one of possible encoding schemes. An encoding scheme can be selected depending on the size of the control message and/or available transmission resources and/or the detection scheme used by the receiving side. A modulation scheme can also be selected depending on said factors. For some control messages, code-division multiplex (CDM) can be used. For other control messages, encoding with code blocks, such as Reed-Muller encoding, can be used. Different transmission resources can be allocated for different control messages. Encoding characteristics can be selected to obtain a certain Hamming distance and/or size of the encoded message or depending on other factors.
EFFECT: improved uplink transmission of control messages for mobile broadband wireless communication systems.
