FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: composite alloy of Fe-base for brake pad of railroad car contains in wt %: copper 5-20, chrome 0.1-5.0, carbon 3-20, aluminium oxide 1-10, silicon oxide 0.5-5, iron - rest. Alloy contains iron matrix and friction filler, it is impregnated by organosilicon hydrophobisator. Base of the iron matrix has fine grain structure with grain size 15-70 mcm, containing sorbitic perlite with interlamellar distance 0.3-2.0 mcm, along borders inclusions of cementite, chromium carbide and free graphite are located.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance of friction pair brake-pad-wheel, increased stability and friction coefficient, reduced wear of car wheel during braking.
