FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dye compositions and improved coatings with low titanium dioxide content. An aqueous coating composition has PVC from 78 to 88% and contains the following, with respect to the total volume of solid substances of the dry coating: a) plugging pigment particles, including: i) 3-10% titanium dioxide, ii) 0-20% hollow polymer particles; b) non-plugging filler particles, including: i) double calcium and magnesium carbonate, and/or ii) calcium carbonate, and/or iii) nepheline syenite, and/or iv) kaolin, where the sum i)+ii)+iii)+iv) ranges from 40% to 80% and iv) ranges from 0% to 20%; c) particles of a polymeric binding substance with Tg calculated using Fox equation of 25-70°C, having an acid number of 15-65 mg KOH/g polymer, where the polymer particles consist of acrylic monomers and optionally include styrene and/or derivatives thereof; d) a dispersant with weight-average molecular weight of at least 3500 Da; e) a volatile coalescing solvent, where the composition does not contain a non-volatile coalescing solvent.
EFFECT: invention enables to prepare a paint composition, having low titanium dioxide content and having good dullness and scratch resistance in a wet state.
