FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering and can be used for forecasting of properties of metals and alloys. Essence of the invention: the samples of the same steel grade are selected, which are heat-treated at the different modes. The indenter is penetrated into any zone of the sample, step by step the load is increased in the pre-set interval, the load is applied consistently in one fixed point of any zone surface, using the dependence of load from depth the coefficients a and n from the formula P=a·hn are determined. The equations of dependence of mechanical characteristics from the coefficients a and n are obtained. The indentor is penetrated into the local zone of the sample in the same manner as into previous zone, the coefficients a1 and n1 are determined by dependence of load from depth of penetration of the indentor the coefficient a1 and n1 are determined and substituted in the obtained equations and the properties of material in the local zone of the sample are determined.

EFFECT: expansion of scope of application of micromechanical tests; performing indenting at small loads of the indentor; possibility of assessment of properties of a certain zone in layered, composite materials, on the surfaces with local heat treatment, in various phases and separate grains of non-uniform materials.
