SUBSTANCE: lactation is supported in a woman by practising rooming-in, regular expression of breast milk if latching the baby to the breast appears to be impossible, ensuring skin-to-skin contact. The lactation support represents an integrated set of measures and involves the psychological support by the medical staff and family and the lactation dominance assistance. The regular feeding expression of breast milk by means of a breast pump every 3 hours, including at night time, for 15 minutes from each breast, and every time the woman feels her breast filling, or from both breasts simultaneously with two breast pumps; or the expression of breast milk from one breast combined with nursing the baby from the other breast. Using the physical methods for lactation stimulation in the form of warm applications on the breasts 15 minutes before the expression. Taking actions to stimulate breastfeeding in the baby: skin-to-skin contact according to kangaroo care, which is implemented several times a day depending on the baby's state; giving the baby's jaw muscles massage and giving the baby a pacifier to maintain the sucking reflex. Once the baby's state is stabilised, the demand feeding is practiced. Pharmacologic lactation stimulation with domperidone 10 mg 3 times a day 15 minutes before meals for 2 weeks. Observing the principles of sensible nutrition by the nursing female with using lactation beverages and a vitamin-mineral complex.

EFFECT: method enables preserving and supporting successful lactation for a long period of time.
