FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: in order to purify sodium sulphate, aqueous sodium sulphate solution containing sodium nitrate and sodium nitrite impurities is mixed with carbamide and sodium bisulphate in molar ratio carbamide:sodium bisulphate:total of sodium nitrate and nitrite equal to 0.5:1.0:1.0. Alternatively, carbamide and sulphuric acid can be added in molar ratio carbamide:sulphuric acid:total of sodium nitrate and nitrite equal to 0.5:0.5:1.0. The solution is boiled. Waster is evaporated until temperature of the reaction mixture reaches 125°C. The residue is dried at 140-200°C for not less than 15 minutes.
EFFECT: invention reduces total content of sodium nitrate and nitrite in sodium sulphate.
