FIELD: packaging industry.
SUBSTANCE: device comprises a rotary metering device comprising the rotating lower and metering discs, having a plurality of through holes aligned to form a plurality of cavities, the pins mounted in the through holes in the lower disc and extending into the through holes of the metering disc. At that the pins have the upper flaps forming the bottoms of the cavities in the metering disc. The device also comprises a vacuum source for supplying vacuum in the cavities during their loading, a tank above the metering disc for feeding tobacco into the cavities, and a mechanism of applying a flow of compressed air to each of the cavities at the place of unloading for pushing the batch of tobacco from it. The method of feeding the tobacco batches comprises loading of tobacco into the cavity in the rotatable metering disc, creating a first vacuum in the cavity so as to fill substantially the cavity, and creating a second reduced pressure in the cavity after termination of the first vacuum when the cavity is rotated to the place of unloading, and removal of tobacco from the cavity at the place of unloading.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides simplification while simultaneous increasing the accuracy of metering.
